Braces for Children and Youth

Many people  like the idea of perfectly aligned straight teeth, but on the other hand they may be worried about whether the braces will cause pain and discomfort.  The good news is that the placement of orthodontic braces is not at all painful.  And the commitment and investment by the patient and parents will result in an attractive, confident, straight smile.

Although patients of any age can benefit from orthodontic treatment, they tend to work much quicker on pre-teens and teenagers since they are still experiencing jaw growth.  The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that children should first see an orthodontist around the age of seven years-old.  An orthodontic examination may be beneficial before age seven if facial or oral irregularities are noted.

The First Visit

When you come to BRIO, you will first be greeted by our friendly front staff. We will show you a tour of our office, and may take some photos of your face and smile.  Then our orthodontist will conduct a visual examination of the teeth. This may be accompanied by panoramic x-rays, when necessary. At BRIO Orthodontics, we offer in-house digital x-rays and computerized images for patient convenience.

Using the diagnostic information, initial diagnosis and treatment planning is formulated by the orthodontist.  And we will answer any questions you may have about orthodontics.
